As owner of Sprout Dental, Dr. Kady Schloesser's strengths lie in clinical techniques, business leadership, and her fundamental appreciation for her patients, staff, and community. She’s happy to be back home in Honesdale, where she graduated high school, and lives with her husband Karl and their four children: Esme, Margaret, Albrecht, and Lark. They also have a German Shepherd named Maple, along with 20 some chickens, four farm cats, two parakeets, one leopard gecko, and an axolotl!
Dr. Kady earned her B.S. in Biology at the University of Scranton; received her D.M.D. at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry where she was a member of the Stomatognothic Honor Society; and completed her Pediatric Dental Residency at Temple University’s Episcopal Hospital. She received her Pediatric Dental Association Board Certification in November of 2016.
When she's not helping children of Northeast Pennsylvania grow healthy smiles, she's happy to be home with her family, running along the country roads she's known since her childhood, challenging her friends and family — and sometimes her fellow farmers — on the Peloton leaderboard, and experimenting with new recipes and flavors in her kitchen.

Dr. Alesia Walsh-D’Andrea is a Scrantonian through and through. She was born, raised, and educated in the Electric City, for high school at Scranton Prep and college at the University of Scranton. After traveling far and wide for her dental education, she’s happy to be close to home again. She lives with her husband Nick, their children Athena and Nico, and their dogs Nala and Simba.
Dr. Alesia graduated with honors from the University of Scranton with a dual major in neuroscience and biology. Her thesis focused on the trigeminal (tooth) nerve. Chew on that (really) because it’s a nerve critical to the feelings we get in our mouths when we chew. After graduating from the U with honors, Dr. Alesia advanced to the Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, a part of Temple University Health Systems, where she also completed her residency. At Temple, Dr. Alesia trained extensively in oral conscious sedation. In addition to her coursework in Philadelphia, Dr. Alesia went to Lima, Peru and Ensenada, Mexico to set up and operate fully functioning mobile dental clinics.
Dr. Alesia enjoys many things in her hometown and beyond, like running the trails at Lake Scranton, traveling and trying new restaurants, and experimenting with new recipes at home.
She can be hard to keep up with sometimes. She’s completed the Chicago Marathon and several half-marathons around Philadelphia. She also gets competitive on her Peloton and eagerly anticipates any new Taylor Swift albums or news. (She’s seen her four times, including the Eras tour.) At the end of the day, she’s not afraid to re-read Harry Potter, hoping to find some secret Hermione spell to cure cavities.

Dr. Adrea Tasselmyer, DMD is a pediatric dentist who is excited to be back in her hometown of Honesdale, providing children’s dental care for families throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.
Dr. Adrea completed her pediatric dental residency at Temple University Hospital, serving as Chief Resident during her graduating year. She earned her DMD from the University of New England College of Dental Medicine.
Before attaining her lifelong goal of becoming a Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Adrea earned her BSN from Drexel University to expand her knowledge and approach to patient care. Her nursing career exposed her to situations including emergencies, trauma, and, of course, pediatric care. Her educational accomplishments also include an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from East Stroudsburg University.
Dr. Adrea is passionate about providing world-class, compassionate care to Northeast Pennsylvania’s diverse families and rural communities. Outside of the office, Dr. Adrea enjoys spending time with her wife, and their two children on activities including fishing, gardening, canoeing the Delaware, and exploring the arts communities throughout Northeast Pennsylvania and New York’s Catskills

Dr. Annie Shaffer will always make sure your child feels like a hero by the end of their dental appointment! Another hometown girl, she’s glad to be back in Pennsylvania after practicing in Colorado. She loves nature and the outdoors, with fly fishing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and cross-country skiing among her many adventurous hobbies.
Dr. Annie received her D.M.D. degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in 2017 and completed her residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Geisinger Medical Center in 2019. She was nominated and accepted as a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Honor Society and received the AAPD Predoctoral Student Award in Pediatric Dentistry. During her residency, she completed an extensive amount of hospital dentistry involving treatment under general anesthesia in the operating room and dental trauma as a part of Janet Weiss Children’s Hospital. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and an ABPD Diplomate.
Dr. Annie knew that she wanted to be a Pediatric Dentist when she was very young. In second grade, she saw that her classmates were losing teeth and wanted a “tooth treasure chest” of her own but did not lose any teeth while at school! After telling her family, her mother proceeded to buy her a “Play-Doh Drill ‘N Fill Dentist” play set and the rest was history. Dr. Annie believes every child, no matter age, background, or circumstances, should be treated with compassion.

Dr. Christina Amato has been practicing pediatric dentistry in Northeast Pennsylvania for many years. She loves serving the community of Northeastern Pennsylvania and helping future generations grow healthy smiles. Outside of dentistry, she spends time on trails and in her garden with her husband, Phil, and their three Shetland Sheepdogs. Together they all love visiting the beach in Cape May, New Jersey, and her special hobby is keeping her fig tree happy and fruiting in a Northeast climate. She’s probably the dentist with the greenest thumb around, besides her fig tree fascination, she’s known to fill the staff room with tomatoes, zucchinis, cucumbers, and whatever else she grows in her garden. Sometimes, if we’re really lucky, she’ll throw those veggies into a soup to share.
Dr. Chrissy was born, raised, and educated in the Wyoming Valley. After graduating from the Wyoming Area School District, she received her bachelor’s degree in Biology as well as her Masters in Health Care Administration while working as an Anatomy & Physiology Graduate Teaching Assistant. Upon completing her degrees at the University of Scranton, she earned her Degree in Dental Medicine from Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry.
During her time at Kornberg, Dr. Chrissy received the R. Ralph Bresler, MD Memorial Award for “exhibiting outstanding empathy for pediatric patients and a desire to put patients first.” Following dental school, Dr. Chrissy completed her pediatric residency at Temple University’s Episcopal Hospital. Dr. Chrissy spent 6 years in Philadelphia before coming back to Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Dr. Christina is known to keep things fun, from singing during appointments to honoring tie-dye Tuesday, every Tuesday. Hint, if you find yourself with a Tuesday appointment, come dressed to impress.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Dr. Jenelle Alvarez has been slowly building up her tolerance for Pennsylvania weather. She moved here to attend Temple University and stayed for her husband, a general dentist who was born and raised in Scranton. They've loved building a peaceful life here with their son Bryson and their adorable dog (second child, who was born first), Woodson.
Before heading north, Dr. Jenelle earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Florida. She also worked as a Legal Assistant during school and after graduation. Wanting to take her medical career further, Dr. Jenelle earned her Master of Medical Science at the University of South Florida in Tampa before attending Temple University’s Maurice Kornberg School of Dentistry. After that, she completed her Pediatric Residency through Temple University’s Episcopal Hospital.
Although she can be shy at first, Dr. Jenelle is outgoing, playful, and even a prankster once she warms up. If she’s quiet at your first appointment, you better watch out at your second! She might surprise you with a mystery toothpaste flavor like mustard or cabbage. (Just kidding, she’d never do that.) She’s a fan of yellow dahlias, Classic Coke (don’t tell the other dentists) and Luke Combs.
Besides all her other unique history and qualities, what really sets Dr. Jenelle apart from our other dentists at Sprout is that she’s a fluent Spanish speaker, offering a new voice and level of understanding for our office and its patients.

Dr. Leann Skoronski has been with Sprout Dental since August 2021, but she can be hard to keep up with. An adventurer at heart, she’s traveled near and far: from Turks and Caicos to Ireland, from Philly for 76er’s game to Hershey for chocolate. She’s also a licensed scuba diver, accomplished mountain climber, and a culinary daredevil. She’s always on the move and enjoying life.
Raised in Exeter, Pennsylvania, Dr. Leann attended the University of Scranton where she received her Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biology and Philosophy. Following graduation, Leann earned her DMD at the Temple University School of Dental Medicine. She attained her General Practice Residency Certificate at Hackensack University Medical Center, then took steps toward becoming a Pediatric Dentist — first with a fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH, then through a Post-Doctoral Certificate Program with East Carolina University. She worked as a Pediatric Dentist in North Carolina and Hawaii before coming home to Northeast Pennsylvania.
When not sampling the world’s fare out in the wilds, Leann is on the prowl locally. Some of the many things she loves about life in Northeast Pennsylvania are the endless hiking trails, family-owned restaurants, ice cream parlors, and foods she finds at church summer picnics.

Dr. Sue Granquist is a true native of Northeastern Pennsylvania and sees patients at our Honesdale farm twice a week. She also fills in at our other farms when they need an extra hand. She’s married to her Honesdale High School sweetheart and they have two little sprouts, Carl and Anna, and two cats, Pumpkin and Cinder, which they adopted from the local animal shelter. As a family, they like to hike our Pennsylvania trails, make their own maple syrup, grow vegetables, and harvest bushels and bushels and bushels of blueberries.
Dr. Sue majored in Psychology and minored in Italian at Penn State University (and yes, she can tell you how to say “brush your teeth” in Italian). She completed her dental education at the Kornberg School of Dentistry, part of Temple University’s Health System. Dr. Sue then spent almost ten years practicing as a general dentist locally before taking some time off for one of the other “best jobs” there is, being a mom!

Dr. Niya loved the dentist as a kid, and has always enjoyed working with children whether as a tutor, dance teacher, or debate coach. (Tread carefully if you want to start an argument.) The best part of her job is getting to make a difference in her little patients’ lives, and the joy the bring to hers.
Dr. Niya grew up in Southern California and attended UC Berkeley for undergrad before earning her dental degree and pediatric specialty from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry and Temple University Hospital for Pediatric Dental Residency. She eagerly pursues continuing education, staying up to date with new technology and science that improves patients’ health and experience.
Although California will always be home, Dr. Niya and her husband love exploring all that nature has to offer in Northeastern PA. She also enjoys cooking and trying new recipes, and especially traveling to explore the world through food.
